Great concept but has no idea how to execute properly at least in Florida on the Daily Flex It seems to use weather forecasts more than the very acurate weather station in my yard for actual rainfall amounts Watering is sometimes pushed out for a week and it can t go that long if it doesn t actually rain My lawn turns brown waiting on Rachio and am forced to run it manually anyway If I m away I will probably lose my lawn unless I set up a freakin schedule again I did select my pws     Bob R

App is quite buggy I am guessing has a lot to do with React not being so reactive ironically Times often don t refresh when going onto next stage zone in a schedule especially when previous zone is longer time then next Interface will just randomly quit and watering Awkward navigation Now have to watch every watering as some zones won t turn off I realize we are now living in a React SPA world but this is a bad example of that I am ready to put my old sprinkler timer back on the wall         Andrew Kelly

The premise of the app is laudable as you sacrifice functionality of the controller without it I m not sure if it is fully baked and ready for prime time as it regularly freezes and crashes my phone I m hoping for an update soon to address the issue I will check in again and revise as improvements are made         Tim Schott

Sent to support Something very bizarre happened yesterday with my recently purchased and installed Rachio 3 It seems that the Rachio wanted to automatically switch from watering my 6 zones daily each zone for 10 minutes to watering only every 10 days and then for 647 minutes It showed as set up to run each zone for about 1 1 2 hours but each zone run time was slightly different Needless to say very concerning Seems Saturation Skip ought to have caught this             Chris Cowperthwait

Something with this app is broken I tried for hours to do the initial controller setup with zero luck connecting to it wirelessly Then I read on the forums of someone saying they tried an old android version phone with more success I went and grabbed an old gs7 and it worked the first time nothing else changed This app clearly needs some OS compatibility work put into it Once setup it s been working fine since on my gs9             Chris Oedewaldt

well my rachio used to work before this upgrade no more it simply cannot find my asus router anymore update its been 3 months now at least it finds a router problem is it has to be manually reset at least twice a week now apparently the app isn t smart enough to remember the router     Troy

Installed over a year ago and works well I use it like a traditional timer with the added value of viewing watering history and starting manually with my phone I wish they offered additional devices such as wireless valves like b hyve does i recently added a wireles b hyve timer for my misting system and have to use a separate app for it also i added a 240 volt relay to my system to control my pool pump from my rachio app i wish they offered a generic category zone for devices like this                     Bryan Focht

really its just ok yeah its probably the only ok smart watering system out there but lots of stupid bugs in the app that can be easily fixed seems like they have a weak dev team more focused on hardware i guess the hardware is really good its really just the app and capabilities that falll far short it could be awesome and for the price of the hardware it should be but they need some more development to get there             David Hudson

Multiply issues the app is outdated has issues with intial setup wont take commands anymore from Google home Contacted support and was told there are only 3 commands available they also mentioned no fix is coming anytime soon When I bought this product it worked like a dream I could tell it to water certain zones for certain duration give multiply commands now all that is available is water zone with out specific time and seems to always default to 3mins shame to see this device fail     LEO LUJAN

I had app install issues which were frustrating but after getting it up and running configuration was a snap and setting schedules even easier The smart daily cycle is awesome but we ll see what it brings I live in Las Vegas and it is skipping days on the calendar so I m not sure that s the best but that remains to be seen                     Chris Mehnert

Difficult to set up increased my water bill by hundreds of dollars Instead of having straight forward settings that describe how often and or how long to water each zone Rachio uses obscure terms that need to be researched in its forums And their only response instead of fixing their UI is to go to their forums     Dave Engle

There s a bug with the quick run button for a zone where you can swipe it down but then the whole screen it s still grayed out but realistically speaking you shouldn t be able to swipe it down since the method of input is a swiping on the numbers so having two vertical swipe gestures right next to each other isn t very intuitive since i always swipe where it said min which closes it but swiping on the numbers covers them up so i can t see what I m doing Still a good app though                     Tyler Stout

The app is somewhat complex Older app was much simpler It s very difficult to implement a simple fixed time on fixed days you have to go through a lot of steps You should know a lot of technical information about your water delivery rate soil type etc App is obviously written by engineers for engineers or soil scientists When I changed from the system of Rachio calculated watering times to fixed times for my vegetable gardens the water ran non stop for days and I had to shut it off             Bob M

There s definitely an issue with the network setup using an android device I tried 3 different androids s10 s8 and a fire tab all had the same issue Help team did their best but eventually sent out a new device and we had the same issue Finally tried the setup with iPhone and it was added successfully Once it was setup the android app works             Brian Forrest

Gen 2 controller here I ran into the exact same issue Couldn t get it to work on Android for the life of me Borrowed a neighbors iPhone God the embarrassment and got it configured immediately After the initial config was done no problem to continue on the Android The App and the Controller are tight together nicely The App is intuitive and perfect for my 5 zone needs But seriously Rachio Many reviews that all state the same should truly let your QA team test their releases better on the Android side TL DR Need iPhone for initial setup After that it s an awesome system on Android                 Thorsten Stoeterau

What you can say about something that worked perfectly Today I replaced the main shut off valve a previously frozen backflow preventer and installed a new Rachio generation 2 controller At 6 p m I removed the old controller installed the Rachio plugged it in and hooked it up to the internet I have an Android phone and by 6 25 I was walking around outside setting up my zones by 6 40 all the programing was done By 7 p m I had hooked the controller up to Alexa and tested it Very simple                     Ron U
