It is highly advisable to have the latest app version installed so that you don`t miss out on the fresh new features and improvements. The current app version Varieswithdevice has been released on 2014-11-24. The Apple Store includes a very useful feature that will check if your device and iOS version are both compatible with the app. Most iPhone and iPad are compatible. I dont understand the negative reviews No you cant edit your data or add to it except you compile a new database but the developers were open about this on the site And thats not a hard thing to do This is a brilliant program that allows you instant access to family tree and photos it is what it is and it is in my view great Tech assistance from the developers is first class and speedy Great app                     D MH

To con its users into paying you are forced to install a PC program u0026 then pay to convert your gedcom into their proprietary format Only then can you view your tree data on this app To top it all off your tree is read only as this app doesn t support editing As a genealogist of 26 years and an IT tech for 17 I have to say between the developer s shady tactics for generating revenue and the ridiculous steps needed to make this app useful it does not even deserve the 3 stars it has now     Charles Lee

This app is excellent I wanted something to view my family tree and be able to show it to family I was not looking to edit my data This app is easy to use and intuitive The extra step needed to convert to Gedstar format is quick easy and no inconvenience at all Keep up the good work                     Pat Brown

I like it Gedstar Pro shows data for an individual family ancestors and descendants And there is a search feature for looking up everyone on the database                     Paul Bing

If you have done family research using a PC program this program will convert your gedcom file to a format which can be read on your Android phone or tablet I can now view all 8600 people records I ve researched If you have not done family research you shouldn t be leaving a bad review This app is ingenius                     Karen Pastuzyn

A simple and easy to use viewer of GEDCOM files I have used this happily for many years and it meets my requirement for a viewer of the database which I maintain on my Windows PC I suspect that many of the users who complain just don t understand that the app is a viewer and not an editor                     Benjy Bunny

I ve used GedStar Pro since I had a Palm Tungsten E2 If you have something wrong contact the customer service They re very helpful I still use it today along with Ancestry and Family Search When things change on my computer I just replace the old gedcom and I m up to date to refer to no matter where I am I love this app                     Rene Walker

This sounded like a great idea Free app that would allow me to carry my genealogy database around with me Downloading the program files to my PC and Android phone went smoothly I generated a Gedcom file and sent it to Google Drive no problem I imported it into my phone but got an edit that it was an invalid file so apparently the conversion did not work as it was supposed to As I started to troubleshoot in the Gedstar help files I came across information that indicates that this FREE program is really only a 28 day trial and that there will be a payment requirement at the end of the trial but I have yet to find any information about what that fee might be This app will be deleted smarmy advertising does not impress me If there is a fee to use the app just state it at the outset and save everyone a lot of hassle     Sue Matthews
