The Google Maps Engine is now available as a free download on Google Play for Android owners. The application is designed for use in English language. It weighs in at only 10MB to download. It is highly advisable to have the latest app version installed so that you don`t miss out on the fresh new features and improvements. The current app version 51 has been released on 2014-11-25. The Apple Store includes a very useful feature that will check if your device and iOS version are both compatible with the app. Most iPhone and iPad are compatible. Very good service i use it a lot for various purposes What would be nice is the option to search for locations as normal through the search bar but either give us the option to search for locations or add furst result as a pin Mobile app keeps changing between the two sometimes not letting me see the options                 Andrew Smart

I m only eating the app 4 stars because its well made overall but I m genuinely confused at why this app is even needed It s based on the maps app but lacks the robustness of that app You can t view photos or reviews of places you can t get directions you can t keep this offline Although you can view My Maps in the regular Maps app in that app you can t see the details of the places either when seeing the My Maps list It s all just added confusion and uselessness                 Rahul Gupta

Great for viewing maps you ve already created but lacks many of the edit features eg edit icons colors rearrange POIs between layers that the web interface can do This is a bit disappointing when I need to add to or edit a map I ve made to share with others Overall it s an ok app for viewing and making maps and basically identifying sites hiking paths whatever but it needs an upgrade in features to really get the job done when you re on mobile             Those Guys

Made in laptop used with iPad for Iceland Ring road navigation and sites to stop added pics and comments Needs better or easier way to download to use for self navigation It does not guide you need GPS May be able to download in KML KMZ format for Nav apps Would be satisfied with ability to add more layers kind of limited for 2 week trips end up making 2 maps Setting up Ireland trip again 2 maps More layers please Other minor tweaks and auto Nav would be nice still pretty good to map out trip and stops and see where you are                 William Silva

HEED THIS ADVICE I used this app back in 2013 when I lived in the south and used to go joyriding with friends to different places Note that this app hasn t been updated since 2016 I had it on my Google Nexus tablet 2012 version and that was the first of the two released that year This app was great for creating a tracking line when I turned it on to keep a history of where we went I just happened to find some old data files from this app in my Google cloud drive and was able to reopen them using Google Drive s tools The maps showed up with the paths but unfortunately it didn t keep a timestamp correlated with the journey I only knew the dates if I embedded them into the description I may reinstall this on a newer device to see if it will operate still and I ll get back with the results Note if you want to have something like this your best bet at this time is to go to Google Maps and use that as your utility Monday 2019jul08                     zerep rd

could have been a lot better if google gave it proper attention because having this app in playstore is just a waste of storage space and not helping any way the features in My map desktop version is limited un Android version app the layers aren t properly added travel by vehicle option isn t available making few layer and placing point won t help in proper map making if you really wish to make a map than Just an annoying headache you should choose desktop version alone     Aneesh A

The app is super limited compared to the website version there is some real potential here as on the web version you can show step by step directions for your routes this is the main function I use mymaps for so i have to keep using the website on my phone and it s very cluncky as it s not optimised for mobile properly This simple addition would turn 3 stars into a 5 in my book as it s a very valuable part of planning a trip where time is a major factor and comparing routes is necessary             James McD

I tried to edit an already created map but all I can do with an already selected location pin is just to change the description or the position Back to google maps on desktop i find this app useless for the moment     Alex Rusu

still needs a lot of improvement Its difficult yet not impossible to navigate to a saved location But my biggest problem is that its impossible to search by saved location names Please add that possibility Also please improve the synchronization with Google Earth so that I can add locations from there as well Right now Earth can sync with maps but Maps can t sync with G Earth         Mathias Wolthuis

I m a level 8 guide on Google maps I downloaded the app my Google my maps and it hasn t been available and a couple of years I didn t know this until I open the app after I downloaded it come on Google i can t even answer the questions the review asked me     BobbyEarl

it s extremely useful at least for me being a Map Enthusiast but it crashes way too much And I can t express my grief how badly it crashes it tests my patience a lot Once I build a line from New Delhi to Gurugram which took me 30 minutes and suddenly it crashed and I had to make it again I m utterly disappointed         Swattik Sarkar

Quite good but Google maps appear to ignore Palistine Also is this the same as google maps And is there an instruction manual as i allways get lost and end up with the route to my home whereas all i wanted was a map only Really i find ordnance survey maps easier as i can also write on them         derelict stargazer

ZERO STARS App doesn t work for me I installed it named a map test and hit the plus sign and got notified that the app stopped over and over Rebooted and it s still doing the same thing I ll try the desktop version     Penny Weiss

useless for me i wanted to save several waypoints via gps so i open the app turn on gps give the permission create map and then hit the plus button to add location but it doewnt work when i hit plus the app crashes therefore completly useless     Max Weh

GREAT BUT ANNOYING when you add more complexity to the maps like special icons etc from the Web version the app will fail to load them So i have to go to Web version on desktop and then transfer my photos rather than just upload from app             Dan Guinn

This app is recommended to use if you want to see your photos on the map however I can t find this functionality so will have to use my PC to create these maps POINTLESS     Pawel Centlewski

I like the idea of this app because it lets me bookmark tons of places and color code pins and customize the icons and generally does almost everything I want The problem is that it hasn t been updated for over 2 years and is a little flaky and crashy even on the desktop version It doesn t easily allow import or export to a CSV file and generally feels like it s abandoned It s a shame because I would love to use my maps to plan long road trips with more than 10 pins I think this would be excellent app if it just allowed a little more trip planning functionality As it is I have to plan multiple 10 stop trips And that s just not practical for my use case of a year long trip around the country             Drew Brune
