Until this last update I really the Alexa app and thought it was useful Now the music is mashed together with books I can see how that might be a feature someone would find useful if they listened to books I don t and now the music app functions have completely been changed to a lot less control over what you can do No longer can you see what played or go back and change the statis of a song for instance when you get tired of something you had favorited Now I just look at the books list     Lynne Marie

I used to like this app But then suddenly it stopped playing my Spotify Even though I have Spotify premium and it s linked to my Alexa account It keeps telling me that I need a Spotify premium account to use it with Alexa I wish such a big company had a better software There are multiple people on the internet with the same problem and they still don t have a solution for this issue I just tried to play Amazon music and it doesn t play music from its own music service Really bad     Angad Singh

The app has always been fine until a couple of days ago now it won t connect to my Spotify so I can t play anything from Spotify on my phone It says it needs to connect but when I try nothing happens Bizarrely it seems to connect to my Spotify account if I don t use my phone to try and control the tracks Come on Amazon get this fixed Many people are complaining about this online     Gary Copeland

I LOVE my Alexa so much My husband is in a nursing home and he is forever loosing his cell phone or letting the battery die so I just put one of my Alexas in his room and I can always drop in on him with no problem In fact it works so well I am thinking about doing away with his cellphone I highly recommend the Alexa I am always finding new uses for it It s like having my own private assistant                     Sharon Konzem

The app frequently freezes settings in the app frequently don t control the devices and customer service is a joke I spent almost four hours to correct one simple problem and being switched from one technician to another to another with each one having me repeat the same steps that I did in the previous tech had me do In my opinion this app is a good ideabut it is not ready for primetime because it has too many bugs             Pat Silveira

App works it s not terrible but Alexa s voice is usually WAY TOO LOUD I listen to audiobooks the Economist and music the difference between media volume and Alexa s responses is ridiculous She booms throughout the house if anyone is in bed using it is a no no Sadly for anyone outside the US the app offers no independent control of Alexa voice vol So turn volume right down until Alexa Vol is acceptable but media volume barely audible or don t use it Whisper mode may appear later tho         Lee William

I love our Amazon Alexa app It is always getting smarter This app allows us to customize our Alexa enabled Amazon devices control our smart home create playlists find entertainment and so much more Having said all that I would like to see some improvements made to Routines and Skills My teenagers would love the ability to set a sleep routine that lowers the volume of both of their devices turns down the lights and plays rainforest sounds for 45 minutes all with a single command                 Laura Abercauph

I really enjoy having Alexa as part of our household It was easy to install and download the app It was easy to get started and use although I imagine Alexa is capable of more than I ask of it It was a little more trickier to install an Echo for my parents but perseverance paid off                     Sue Grace

I am so done with Amazon Echo Moving to Google Home as I am sick and tired of wasting many hours that I should be relaxing with trying to get things that were once working to work again Now the newest thing is it controls my light still but after every command says sorry Living Room is not responding etc I ve tried everything from resynching the Hue bridge to the bulbs to updating all software and NOTHING fixes it other than deleting ALL my lights and recreating them An Amazon problem     Peter Lucas

I used to be able to show a facebook slideshow on my echo show I now cannot The first step is settings photos This setting has disappeared from my app so I cannot ensure facebook is linked for photos The UK is also so far behind the US for what the app can do theres no reason for this     Phil O'Brien

I don t know where to start with how bad this app is It s behavior is so inconsistent it s hard to believe My criticism extends to the Echo devices that use Alexa Use the app or voice and sometimes it turns lights on and off and sometimes it won t Impossible to predict And the speaker groups are laughable I ll tell it to play an album on my everywhere group and it ll play the first song and stop Or every device in the group will play except for the one i requested it on Or both     john stevenson

When you receive a call through Alexa it creates a an Android notification that doesn t go away until you restart your phone Tell Alexa to play music or read an audiobook on my Galaxy S10 Audio plays for about 30 60 seconds and then stops This always happens Will not let you use Echo Auto unless you give Amazon permission to track your location 24 hours a day Once you enable background activity for this app it can t be disabled Sorry Amazon not interested in letting you stalk me     Kevin Foley

I ve decided to give this application a one star review due to connectivity issues I understand this issue persists from android to android however devices that connect to more than one ISP at a time are experiencing intermittent connectivity issues which is dependent on the connection to internet atm This should be simple guys Please interpret the network and switch upon permission Also changing your SSID is easy except when it comes time to reconnect to the newly named connection     James Benjamin

Latest upgrade causes issues with navigating the skills section After selecting or investigating a skill the back arrow returns you to the top of the skills list This makes it difficult to keep track of what you have investigated and what is left to review             David Brown

More often than not Alexa doesn t recognize a routine and says can t do that with provider Usually 3 time I must invoke the routine I can be standing right next to an echo and give a command and the echo a room away will answer Makes no sense at all Should be a provision for the echo and other speakers to answer you on all speakers should you choose that Skills should be subject to harder approval We have so much junk to go through it s just not worth it I have 7 operating currently             Matthew B

I am experiencing in issue in Android Auto when I am playing a different music service The other service drops in the middle of a song and switches to Amazon Music Google techs have turned the issue over to Amazon I will give Amazon and Google a few more days then I am uninstalling Amazon Music     Dave Gregory

I had trouble with setting up the app on my phone due to my new phone number being used on someone elses Amazon account I had to call Amazon to remove it from theirs and put it in mine Took over 45 mins just to do that In the end they had to help set up Alexa for me             Marlene T.
