It works very well in all aspects My music starts playing the second my phone is recognized the voice to text feature works flawlessly the navigation can t be beat and it s incredibly easy to learn The settings are easy to understand and access u0026 it reads incoming texts well Spotify works wonderfully with Android auto the only negative thing is you want to thumb something up I haven t figured out how to do that yet only thumb down songs Maybe this feature will be added later                     Dingus Wingus
Overall good updates to software A few minor complaints Text messages are not read to you nor are they available to read on the screen Phone numbers for individuals saved in your phone appear but incorrectly identified all listed as home when in actuality they are labeled mobile work etc I ll continue to use to see how some of these bugs are worked out                 Walter B
Sometimes it works great Lately I ve had trouble listening to any audio apps Audible Spotify Pandora etc I think there s a problem with the interface between Android Auto and Chevrolet s audio system which also connects via bluetooth A lot of times it ll say my audio apps are playing yet no sound comes out at which point I can still listen to AM FM stations just not anything on my phone Hopefully the bugs get fixed so there s less distracted driving             Amir Toghraee
When this works which is about 40 of the time it works well hence the 2 stars When it doesn t work it can drive you crazy I bought a new car new phone S9 and new cables yet it still randomly disconnects from my head unit There is no pattern when it happens I ve bought new cables as suggested I ve turned battery optimization completely off as others have suggested and it still randomly disconnects This needs to be fixed         Rayman Bacchus
Nice upgrade When its operating correctly it s very nice However half the time it does not Sometimes it switches without warning from one music streaming app to another The voice text works less than half the time Google does not process the words send it very well Scrolling and selecting gestures are frequently misread I like how easy it is to get to the interactive home screen and the maps work well in display With a few updates this could be awesome             Michael Baker
Android Auto 60 of the time it works all the time I am being too generous here After successfully paring the app with the car app I am able to turn the connection less than 1 out of 3 times Otherwise the idea is neat Here s a moronic featiee for safety reasons the developers don t allow you to activate the app while the car is in motion even if you are a passenger Thus instead of looking at the map on their car dashboard screen you are forced to look at tour phone while driving     Dmitri Kazanski
I do like the app but there are some glitches that need to be addressed 1 The map does not change to night mode at all 2 I ve experienced an issue when listening to music the app being used spotify google play etc will automatically switch to another app on it s own 3 I ve experienced an issue when using the Google maps navigation the audio has cut completely out 4 Not all apps that are compatible with Android Auto are listed on the interface to be used         Phoenix Rising
Simply does not work anymore on my Pixel 2 I have been using Android Auto in my car for a little over a year and have absolutely loved it The only issue I have is when I press the voice command button on my steering wheel sometimes it freezes the display in my car and I have to unplug my phone to get it to come back However after this latest update it will not project onto my car display at all The whole screen just goes black Edit thanks for the auto response that solves nothing     Chris R
Have been using Android auto for a year now Love the revamped version which replicates certain aspects of the screen The buttons are big and easy to navigate One problem is that the music doesn t resume playing post a phone call is completed Need to turn it on manually every single time This was not the case with the previous version The music will automatically resume after being paused due to phone call Please fix this ASAP                 Ronak Gada
Good app and great concept but some hurdles Searching for songs in Spotify or typing in an address on Waze on the dash of the car is hard The passenger should be able to type but they lock out all search and typing functionality while the vehicle is in motion So you have to unlock the phone and try to do it from the phone this shouldn t be the resolution Especially since Waze doesn t seem to work at all while it s being utilized by the car Lots of potential but needs improvement             Brian Hegger
I enjoy using Android Auto in my car It deserves a five star rating however I think that two things need improvement Firstly the voice guidance is too low when the music is playing from the car radio and not on Google play music Secondly the blue icon that represents the car on the map should face up straight in the direction the car is going similar to a portable GPS device I hope Google engineers can easily fix them So far Good Job Google                 Leslie Desvarieux
Almost a great app but not quite Not being able to use the map while plugged in is a real limitation I end up unplugging everytime I need to search for something But the recent update does improve the functionality but it frequently decides to stop my podcast and switch to Amazon music and then I have to switch back I just want it to do what I set and not take over like that I do sometimes play Amazon music with it but at my initiative not its             Mark Chisholm
I would say it randomly disconnects but the reality is it only ever happens when it s critical that it does not The Google assistant is useless often asking What s the message after I say send it to send ad infinitum This plus the fact that the new layout is only slightly more ergonomic than the previous build is only a few glaring examples I could think of There are many many more minor frustrations that when added together make for a very frustrating experience     Chris Varga
Positives it s great when it works the voice recognition works well even with my Scots accent not always but usually I use the maps and music as a matter of course integration with Amazon can be a bit ropey at times but it works 9 times out of 10 Maps can be a huge time saver on the morning commute when it works Negatives The GPS regularly confuses where I am putting me in a field or the wrong road it s also told me roads are closed when they re not             Alasdair Martin
Overall very nice Would rate 5 stars but occasionally it disconnects or won t connect to my head unit In the worst cases I have to reboot my phone Edit 18 Sept 19 Resolved the disconnect problem Now I have found that the Google Assistant will not mark messages as read after reading them aloud It will repeat the last message when a new message comes in from the same person                 Travis Smith
Like many other people for the past few months when I am listening to Pandora or another app Android Auto switches to Amazon Music by itself Google has known about this issue since at least July but like other issues chromecast doesn t work in the Nexus Player and they said they would call back but that was 2 months ago they refuse to fix it They have horrible customer and don t care about producing an inferior product But hey selling our private information is their main business model     Brian Skibo
Syncing my phone to my car is great but that s where it ends 1 The AA lock screen keeps popping up and takes over the entire screen so I have to swipe up This wouldn t be bad if it only happened once but it will happen 5 10 times in a row I drive Uber so I need to see my driver app but the lock screen keeps blocking it 2 Playing my own playlist is great until I ve heard a song 50 times There s an option on my phone to say I m tired of a song but not while AA is active         Bruce Barr
When it works it is a good app You have to make sure to set it up before you drive The app sometimes shuts off Sometimes there is no sound The map works the best Music can be a chore It all of a sudden switches from Amazon music to Google or vice versa It is hard to operate while driving selecting music requires you to look away from driving to read the screen and make your selection The phone works well Text messages is the worst It s almost impossible to get texts out         Wolf Seitzer
No stars actually Worse than the garbage they take off of Google Play for being Spam or Viruses I spent 100 extra on a stereo system that is compatible and it was not worth it At first I used just bluetooth and it was great However the phone kept asking me to download and use this gold encrusted piece of fecal matter It interferes with my internet connection with Amazon Music and the bluetooth too I have to restart my phone every time I want to play music in the car Stay Away     Russell Haskett
Eventually when you re allow your phone to give you notifications from everything google it works well Until then android auto is trying to get you to look at your phone and say OK to Your car is using your phone I would appreciate if I didn t have to confirm every time that my phone is plugged in I am aware and I don t want to have to pick up my phone to say yes                 Splinter Droid
1 star rating 7 30 19 awful app worked for like a day i spent more time with error messages saying that it s been disconnected flat out sucks 9 13 19 Update since this review the app miraculously started working perfectly I honestly haven t had issues since and have been able to use all the features android auto has to offer I love having the accessibility of the on screen gps Really convenient Including the Google assistant There are still a few glitches but over all works well                 Claudia Gomez
The app on the whole is good but the voice recognition could do with a lot more work Sometimes while google is waiting for a reply a new song will start at normal volume You then need to shout but clearly over the top of the song It can get very frustrating really to a message it is almost safer texting by hand very annoying                 Chris Steele
I really appreciate it when it when the voice command works However there are times when it doesn t work Times when I am driving and try to change a song or make a call or listen to a text message that was sent to me And the only thing that happens is Google telling me something went wrong Not sure if it an issue with my phone or with software glitch or something else If it worked all the time I would rate 5 stars cause I love the hands free capabilities                 Kalvin Smith
I like it just the fading in and out on the map is a bit annoying Also notifications are slow and should be ten seconds quicker on delivery eg speed cameras delays Rerouting should be quicker Also i don t want to be disturbed with calls when driving can i turn this off It s more stable than it was I can t get hey Google to work when it is on Android 9 02                 Jake Edward
Great concept bad execution Love the app until the last update Now I almost don t want to use it once it starts glitching and stopping switching my apps It s very convenient and the maps are great as well as talking to Google The glitch is very distracting and causes you to be distracted from driving way too much so it is definitely a major safety concern             Amber Cox
It s good but there are some flaws irritations in my opinion The initial view defaults to the map regardless of what app you left it on The map view always defaults to the same view when you switch to it which is too zoomed out to be useful and you have to fiddle around quite a bit to zoom in in general I find the maps app to be complicated and not very good for navigating I also find searching for music to be complicated even more so with the last update             Jonathan Osachuk
So much better than the original version Intuitive and helpful I like having the audio app controls on screen at all times very useful Only gripe is that sometimes it does listen for the final send it command when using WhatsApp Oh and of course the nannying where it pauses and tells you to pay attention to the road even though it s the passenger using the interface It s not too regular intrusive though                     Adam McQueen
Overall it s nice to have but lots of things are kind of frustrating mostly that the volume of all the apps I use is so much quieter that when it switches back to car audio it s incredibly startling I also wish notifications made a noise instead of being silent with a pop up on the screen Have had tons of problems with the interface as well             Joshua M
Frequently and randomly crashes while your driving Totally useless Just wanted to add this seems to be a common problem This is the worst app in the history of programming Update 2 Here is a process that has been working the last few days Before starting the car plug the phone into the USB port Pat yourself on the head 5 times while counting Mississippi s Then start the car I will update this in about a week     Vito DERASMO
I m still learning it but there s a couple of things I want to do but am not sure if I can t or if it s just not possible Navigating works well but I have yet to figure out how to make the assistant voice louder than the radio music I find it odd that all the media options on my stereo are not on the menu of Android Auto I use satellite and Spotify There s no satellite option in the home menu I have to have the radio on and channel selected before I turn Android Auto on Odd             Glen Giles
The app feels like it needs some real optimization and better debugging There are multiple times where my head unit will disconnect from the app for whatever reason Changing my USB cable helped a lot but there are still times where it disconnects The last thing I should have to do while driving is fiddle around with my phone to get the app to work From the feel of it there just seems to be too many integrated parts for this to be streamlined where it just works 100             Jason Mitchell
It s always a gamble whether it will work or not Today it tells me the version is incompatible with my car when it worked yesterday It won t display in the car if you ve left the music app running in the background It doesn t pull most recently searched places in Maps Sometimes it s simply not recognized Enormously frustrating when you start to depend on these features         Pete Kosowski
Love it when it works In order to work consistently I have to kill the app process and then connect my phone otherwise I get wierd errors and it doesn t connect successfully to my phone All that said love it for navigation access to my music voice search Notifications are silent so I miss some of my messages unlike apple where I get an audible alert I have checked all my notification settings looks like the silence is by design                 Josh Zimmerman
Very reliable when it s just connected via Bluetooth and I operate the phone while driving When connected by USB it can sometimes be pretty annoying Especially with the unreliability of Google Voice detection limiting searches in Spotify and having to do things twice on Google Maps If I start a trip on my phone and then connect the USB I have to start the whole process over Nevertheless the app certainly makes driving safer             Brittany-Marie Aarons
The app is no where near as slick as carplay have just converted from an iPhone x to a one plus 7 pro Once all is connected to the car it is stable and the Google assistant is night and day compared to Siri Only real complaint is the navigation bar at the bottom is huge as it takes the whole width of the screen Would be very happy if there was a way to make it vertical and to the side as it seems to do on vehicles with very wide screens Keep up the good work Thank you             Liam Morris
I can no longer use the hands free options It will not allow me to use voice commands since the recent update I have tried all the settings for Android Auto Google and my Samsung Sad because this is my favorite part about driving Previously I could push a button on my steering wheel and tell the app anything find me a gas station store call my contacts text etc It was nice to have the Android Auto assistant at my finger tips so I would not be distracted What is the purpose of the updates Shouldn t we be gaining more hands free capabilities instead of losing them Correct this please and I will gladly change my review     Rebecca H.H.
I like the voice commands nav features and simple touch screen Has a hard time obeying instruction to send text it says it needs help Um fix the app so it doesn t need help If I receive a text while using the app it can reply easily with voice commands But try to send a new text from the app no luck Please fix the app                 Timothy Ross
When it connects wirelessly it s a dream the integration with my stereo is awesome When it pops an error 1 3 of the time it s a nightmare to connect as the error messages have no information to resolve the issue Update the link below took me to the form I already completed before which has resulted in zero help Why have a link if no one responds to you         Casey Killian
Tried it in a new car Honda Accord and tried it in several other cars Nissan Altima Ford escape etc and Android auto never works shows a blank screen the stupid new Android auto UI is so bad I don t know what to make of it There is a round button which doesn t seem to do anything They should just quit and stop advertising this as an option Couple of my friends going through the same problem Update fixed the problem by uninstalling the app and reinstalling it     Gauldoth 86
