As a nationally certified sign language interpreter I can assure you this will be of absolutely no help in communicating with a Deaf person American Sign Language is a complete language with its own unique structure and syntax Simply transcribing English letters into the manual alphabet is far from what a real interpreter does This is like considering Yahoo Answers to be as valid as a peer reviewed journal article Mislabeled Mark Halley
I installed this just so I could comment If you are going to type out what you want to say to a deaf person why not just let them read what you typed Or write it down Deaf people can read ya know Pointless and illogical Rajean Ford

American Sign Language and finger spelling are not one and the same Finger spelling in ASL is mostly for proper names and places This app only trandlates what you are saying into finger spelling right now which is useless a a translation device as the Deaf can read English This is a great concept IF developed further to include actual ASL words Only Fingerspells Deborah W
The only use for this app is if you have someone else type in the word turn off the voiced letter and you covered the answer with your hand To be useful the app would need to present spelled words to you separately from entering them or speaking them to you Only useful for learning fingerspelling John Escobedo

This app neither translates nor helps with proper ASL grammar It only gives you the finger spelling for everything Apparently the maker of this app assumed deaf people cannot read since at this point it would be far easier just to show them what you typed This app is borderline offensive Saffron S
