If you are Android owner, you now can download RetroArch for free from Google Play. The application is designed for use in English language. It weighs in at only 10MB to download. It is highly advisable to have the latest app version installed so that you don`t miss out on the fresh new features and improvements. The current app version Varieswithdevice has been released on 2014-01-11. The Apple Store includes a very useful feature that will check if your device and iOS version are both compatible with the app. Most iPhone and iPad are compatible. Here is the app`s compatibility information: 2.3 and up
Bottom Line: For more information about RetroArch check developer Libretro`s website : http://www.libretro.com

RetroArch is a powerful engine that allows you to: Play games (retro and more current ones) Watch movies (soon) Other stuff (augmented reality, etc) (soon)It comes with its own built-in collection of applications to provide ...

It s doable though I wouldn t necessarily recommend retro gaming with a touch screen Regarding the UI as bad it s not that bad It is however also not that good Anyone who has fiddled and dabbled with the PC version won t find this Android version confusing but for those who haven t it can be disorienting trying to figure out where everything is and where they should go However RA is the secondbest Emulator I ve ever tried the first being RetroPie and that too is base on RA                 Ikhwan Arif
Such a beautiful and familiar UI with buttery smooth animation and navigation that was until I tried to control it On Nvidia Shield a wireless keyboard nor the shield controller work at all Only the shield remote Back button on remote takes you back to the game instead of back in the menus No pre configured button or combo to get back to the menu from a game The PS3 like UI makes me think I can do these things If it needs configuration on first launch it needs a first time wizard             Ryan Grant
Powerful tool But painfully inadequate user experience Back button doesn t funtion at all Closes content the game when pressing menu button or other menu oddities Doesn t automatically change overaly orientation and doesn t even remember what orientation you set it to you have to constantly change it to the one you want Doesn t save your settings configuration without having you manually save in a hidden menu And other WTFs It would seem the devs don t use Android         Angelic Burrito
The emulation is good for most cores And configuring the app isn t hard if you just take 2 seconds to look at a video Emulation speed depends on your phone and what you re emulation so if you want to emulate basically any system from n64 and above you ll probably need either a really optimized phone or a beefy phone                     sonickai46
It s almost 2020 and this app still can t recognize the back button on a freakin android device unbindable Convoluted menus no automatic config saving stuff everyone else already pointed out Retro I get it but jesus christ the future is now old man Good input latency on snes9x though             Gab
Fantastic app however while using 8Bitdo SN30 Pro Bluetooth gamepad or probably any Bluetooth gamepad after power cycling or waking from sleep gamepad the autoconfig connects it as a new controller on a different port and I can no longer control the menu until exiting and re entering RetroArch Modified multiple input settings with no success Might be more of an Android issue that RetroArch specifically but the issue does exist none the less If that can be fixed it will be perfect                     Weston Campbell
Worst emulator I ve ever tried ROMs fail to start menu is overwhelming and complicated Definitely not user friendly nothing is straightforward I don t have time to go through hundreds of pages of documentation to figure it out It should be easy as any of those retro systems you can buy     Attila Nagy
GBA emulation works flawlessly The UI is bad but useable The menu items are unnecessarily large and it takes a while to scroll through them This is especially noticable when switching save state slots as you can have hundreds Overall a decent emulator                 Onion Door
it was great at first i got pokemon fire red to play on this emulator and it worked great when i was right at the end of the game my save file was lost and now i cant even play the game itself i had a really good team too ugh         paige gibson
Does what it s supposed to do for the most part Still has some issues like forcing the play store version of retroarch and needing more individual emulator support as well as more visual improvements but what works works well                 Jason Chapman
Constantly having awful audio no matter what setting I try Nds emulator seems to be awful for fps ps1 games seem fine again apart from the audio             Craig-James Clare
Edit recent update literally broke everything Installed cores fail to load Running a game locks up my phone so badly that you can t even exit had to hard reboot VERY buggy Reverts save games all the time auto save is busted half the time No way to Uninstall cores Sometimes changing a configuration value causes all of your configurations to becompletely reverted like immediately Default controller mappings for some systems are wrong Y should be B and B should be A Always     Michael Jensen
Fantastic Broken in Android 10 Portrait works fine landscape makes it unusably slow Worked fine in 9 0 pie                     Bee Lily
not clear on how to configure wii controls nunchuk no search function no way to pause or stop scanning                     Jon Yz
The setup isn t as plug and play as I d like but it works smoothly I have had no issues                     Mason Verkruisen
Terrible UI and UX complex set up many options lead to crash It is also much more demanding than a traditional emulator for the same console RetroArch is good for keeping different platforms under one app but in expense of worse performance battery life and stability Important note RetroArch DOES NOT SAVE your progress until you quit the app CORRECTLY even if you save to the MEMORY CARD i e to the storage At least that s the case with PCSX core didn t check others     Vadim Makhtarov
Can you do another update to fix the playstation 2 emulator I tried playing one playstation 2 game but it keeps buffering and freezing can you please fix it for the next update if you do I ll give you five stars overall its s great app     Shazim Uddin
On screen controls using PCSX reARMed have stopped working on both tablets that we use retroarch on seems to be core specific once fixed I will edit my review Edit Solved had to uninstall on both tablets then remove it from my google play library to delete any backup settings that were stored by google I still have no idea what caused the issues in the first place though updated rating             Lance Smart
The app works as intended very pleased with all versions of this app Update August 2019 The wired controller matches the core Bottom buttons work if the core requires it otherwise some buttons may look disabled but there not on X input controllers Bluetooth controllers should have all buttons available don t ask I don t know why Chromebook users have to have the controller in X Input to work properly even if the controller registers as Android in the settings                 Jaden Hybrid
So far I love the Dreamcast u0026 the Playstation cores And the Dreamcast core ran every game I through at it thats the only reason I have this apk The redream only ran 4 games compared to this EXCELLENT app Thank You                     Gary Wos
Requires a bit of time and patience to set up but once you understand how to navigate the menus it becomes a powerful tool Now i can play my favorite retro jrpgs on the go Thank you devs for keeping retro gaming alive                     Khai Van
After update they need to do a tutorial how to set up the game control right now my arc browser is not working with this new retroarch update     jose rodriguez
I want to play sonic cd but both the bin and cue files don t work Fix this                 KWFun Channel
The app is good but ui is trash and would really prefer a modified version of the xmb format in the pc version I d also prefer better touchscreen controls             Hamed Al Shaqsy
Amazing app The developers coders are VERY talented and their efforts are greatly appreciated by the retro gaming community Publish a detailed how to guide and I ll buy it                     Tim G
There s no tutorial and nothing makes sense in the slightest     True Chaotic1
Love this on the go Only issue is thag there is no guide on how to install a bios file on the Android Versions to run certain games on emulation                     Victus VonGuyver
Every time I try to play a ps1 or ps2 game tje app shut shuts down so I can t play it     Mr magnum
Works well Doesnt run ds games well though                 Hyper Sonic 37
Atomiswave Naomi games keep crashing Pls help                 NOOB GAMER
works well on my phone but wont work well on my acer chromebook         Datsatoil3t 1234
Amazing this works astonishingly for the ps1 keep up the good work                     Starshine Gamer777
If you dont know how to operate the system dont give the app a bad review go to youtube or reddit This is the best app to emulate Hands down                     Santiagold ion
Why can t I use Ozone The touchscreen doesn t work properly                     Benjamin Franklin
Simply the very best front end for all your retro needs                     Joel Morgan
Broken on Nvidia Shield even after fixing cores     KING LIFER
Best open source emulator for all sorts of retro games                     Balaji Ganesh Babu
why theres no 0 197 and 160 mame core on my retroarch app im using samsung a50                     nald sans
It is a very good emulator I love how you can play in normal speed with low end hardware better then Web browser emulators I also like how you can download more cores to make it support more consoles I also like how you make games store folders in the retro arch folder to load games faster And also I like how you can slowdown game play and speed it up The controls are good too because you can pick control skins so you can make it match up to the console your playing                     Alfie's funtime
Lots of cores available and no ads but the UI and user experience is ridiculously bad Makes it really frustrating to set up The Android back button does nothing and you have to use the back button in the app Some of the menu options can only be changed with the D pad on the overlay so you have to turn that on and somehow come back to the setting Settings are only saved once you restart the application The frontend really needs a rewrite         Vishnu Madhusoodanan
