Coastline is a simple minimalistic text editor. Lightweight and fast, it allows you to easily open, edit and save plain text documents. We try to keep our application as simple as possible. So, we`ve implemented only ...
Droid text editors are everywhere Good ones not so much They re either too simplistic or are misrepresented code editors with features galore you ll never use I thought I d finally found a winner in Coastline I was proven wrong Loss of a third lengthy txt file to the quirky Undo feature is enough Once or twice is anomalous thrice is unacceptable So I find myself once again searching for an adequate text editor This one NOT recommended Any suggestions EkardnnaM
It does what I need it to I like how it can access and edit files in the file system instead of being locked only within the app However there have been times on my tablet when I m using it in windowed mode not full screen I ll make an edit to a file I then focus onto some other app in the meantime but when I focus back on this app whatever changes I made got undone like it reverted to the last saved version Disabling the Auto Save feature and making myself remember to choose Save manually helps with this behavior You Don't Know Me
Can t be added as a default app for opening text files So I can t just tap on a file in storage and open it using the editor I have to first open the editor and find the file from the editor which is annoying Martin Macko
Excellent text editor dark mode no ads font customization and more Only flaw I have found thus far is that spacing only works for all lines in the current text file except the very last one It s best to leave a blank line at the end of the document and type above there for spacing to work correctly as a work around until the developer can figure out how to fix this I ll be using this with auto save for writing stories Good job Derek Larios
I replaced a troublesome editor with this one and this one is excellent in comparison It allows me to create save edit and view text files and that is exactly what I required Phil White
A proper text editor It edits text Not bold text not italic text not source code not HTML just plain text Perfect Salvor Hardin
Look I ve tried all of the top rated text editors in the Play store This one is the best in that it doesn t glitch error bug or surprise you with ads or anything If all you want to do is create and edit text files darnit this is the best tool for the job Still it would be nice to have slightly more functionality like a black theme not just dark searching the file with regex line numbers and goto and basic file operations in the storage view but that would be contingent upon such features not making the app function any worse as a lot of other text editors have that problem Seeing how the app was elegantly designed however makes this seem to be very doable and I might consider paying a little for it after verifying that it works well if the equivalent was on the marketplace Andrew Davis
it s good but the spell checker doesn t appear at all uninstalling it immediately the only good part is that it can save to an external sdcard Roberto Artist
A text editor should not include formatting such as colored link underlining when pasting copied text Doug T
Outstanding Exactly what I was looking for Clean and simple design Create a new text file and save it anywhere I want on internal storage only quickly and simply and even create new folders Or share the file via almost anything installed Also tracks recent files gkseifert
No fills no thrills this could be a great little app but it keeps crashing on opening files Uninstalled xyz xyz
Surprised it s not on the top of searching Maybe the app is too simple It has everything I need though Chose the text size got to work saved The app only lacks button to make it to the end of the file like all previous editors I used A Google user
Older files jam app when trying to save Trying to save to sd card confirmed saving but didn t Uninstalled Ton van Hattum
It was very good up to a few weeks back when it started to occasionally loose blocks of text Now just recently it gets stuck in a loop of asking if you want to save but then doesn t save and when you go to back to main menu asks again So you are stuck in that loop A Google user
Simple does what it is supposed to unlike some other text editors Awesome x yz
Would be a five star app if it could only save to my SD card error App pretends to but doesn t storage permissions allowed on phone gz1wireless gmail
App said it had saved my file but I could not find it anywhere in my storage and definitely NOT in the folder I had navigated to in the File Save as dialog Trevor Morrison
Doesn t show up as option when opening text files when exiting it asks if I want to save the file I tap save and nothing happens I try to exit again and it just keeps doing the same thing Steve J
Looks good and seems to work fine but it and it seems most or all text editors for Android doesn t let me set it as the default for txt files or anything else A Google user
I encountered a bug where i wrote a file saved with a filename and later found the file empty I lost all my work Eric Undersander

This editor keeps itself out of the way and it is a great relief not to have to fight my tools It would be nice if there were a quick way to jump to the end of a file and a search function would be welcome But everything I ve wanted to do with it with those exceptions is available in the most obvious way Congrats I m glad you ll be adding search bc I just now wanted to search a list for a name Is there an ETA Simple is not easy congratulations Tyrone Slothrop
FAIL Is it really that difficult to build a simple plain text txt editor that actually works It appears the answer is Yes judging by this and many other apps I ve tried which just don t cut it Believe it or not IT IS NOW POSSIBLE FOR APPS TO SAVE TO SD CARD if the app asks for the correct permissions I recommend the app QuickEdit which actuality works and is also far better to use with a much more professional looking interface and menus etc David Lovell
Very comfortable and easy to use Graphical design is natural and logical The app is very lightweight My request for developer The app is not in the list when opening text files from Android default file manager Please try to solve this small issue Other file managers recognize it well A Google user
This editor is exactly what I was searching for Only one problem it seems that the text area has a limit in terms of number of characters It would be nice to see that limit removed or however made much much bigger Antonio De Luca
Clean Very simple Dark mode option Problems Not integrated well with Android when clicking on text files no option to open or any other supported file types with Coastline Thomas Vanon
