Axis 360

The Axis 360 is now available as a free download on Google Play for Android owners. The application is supporting English language. It weighs in at only 10MB to download. The new Axis 360 app version 1.0 has been updated on 2014-08-20. The Apple Store includes a very useful feature that will check if your device and iOS version are both compatible with the app. Most iPhone and iPad are compatible. Very frustrating to use Doesn t keep your place on audio books after shutting down the app I have to take a screen shot of where I stop listening so I can manually find my place quickly Takes forever to load or even resume listening Searching the book collection and checking out books can also take a very long time to load spinning green circle Reboot the phone or even reinstall the app helps but not for long It s such a pity b c I love the option of getting audio books from the library     Lisa Bird

It needs a lot of improvement to be prime time It is VERY slow to load or switch books It doesn t remember your setting for speed and frequently messes up your sync position even within the same app on the same phone in the same session It also doesn t show you how much you have left in a book just how much you have left in that chapter And I wish it had more speed settings Overall a frustrating experience     Christine Brinker

The current version 4 0 2 is a real pain Every time you put down your phone or look at your email for instance the app finds it necessary to reload sync the book you are reading This process of loading syncing takes a patheticly long time For some reason the download option doesn t work for me so I can t say whether that might work better I have to streem books A nice improvement would allow the user to turn off the auto sync feature and just sync manually when needed             Bill Jones

Like the selection of books but clumsy to use compared to other apps I use with other libraries It often skips back to a previous stopping point instead of my last pause takng time to jump around to find my spot Inconsistent in letting me pause from the lock screen so I have to log into my phone wait for the book to load then pause I don t see a history option unless I missed it So if I don t get done with a book before my checkout ends I have to remember the title             Jennifer Schmidt

Used to be better Since update page turning is not as good go back to swiping the page please It would also be nice to easily see how close the end of the chapter is and how much you have left in the book I have had issues with books not loading and it not saving my place when I put it away for awhile I really hope they get these kinks worked out soon         Jenn Leavell

I took my time making this rating I got 3 out of the 5 alloted books from my library s system and I gave it a shot Two were ebooks and one was an audiobook I hate this app I only have this on my Samsung S8 It needs an internet data or wifi connection to work Autorotate knocks you back to the beginning of the chapter Rarely saves your page Doesnt save your place in audiobooks And even tho I have it on oem device It says im out of devices I don t have this on any other one     Brie Wilkins

At first I Loved it but now I can t even bring up my book to read Something needs to be looked into because it takes forever to load an already downloaded book and the last two times I ve tried to open my book I just got stuck in the searching Perhaps this is due to the update mentioned in another review but it s very annoying         Ellen S

This app is terrible It s slow and clunky and even with the new UI updates I think it s possible that it s worse now A downloaded book still ends in error I also feel that when I try to pull down the settings bar the book jumps to places where I am not Highly annoying I wish libraries would just buy more copies of kindle books than use axis 360     Lissette Wilmot

This app is slow crashes frequently and I often have issues with audiobook downloads where the playback will just cut off 30 seconds into a chapter The app is not compatible with my wireless headphones pause button and now I have had an issue twice when I placed an audiobook on hold and changed my request to an ebook I cannot think of a positive reason to recommend this app unless it is the absolute only option for you I wish my library had more to offer on Libby since that app is superior in every way I would spend money on libro fm or even audible before using Axis 360     Wendy Olson

I enjoy this app for the most part Plenty of titles The user interface could use some improvement For instance navigating to the place to set filters only audiobooks only available books etc is not obvious or easy It s difficult to find every time I try                 Paul Willnauer

it allows me to get audio books from my library and that is great However I can t pause it via headphones I can t pause it on my car s Bluetooth In the car I can fast forward but only by chapter not by 30 seconds when I leave the app and come back it often is at the wrong spot in the story forcing me to spend time finding my spot again this is especially bad since the fast forward and rewind only works when you have the screen on so if I m in the car i have to pick up my phone         Don Rolling

The app kept asking me to review so here goes First I have never really liked the app Always a little buggy and if you only have 5 10 minutes free to sit down and read you might as well expect at least 1 2 of that time will be spent watching a green circle going round I only use it to read ebooks so I cannot comment on the audio book functionality However the last update really takes the cake Do they not at least test their product before releasing it on the unaware masses Now every time I close a book I cannot open it I have tried closing the app doing a force close clearing the cache etc the ONLY thing that works is re starting my phone Remember when I said I may only have 5 10 minutes free to sit down and read Well consider those minutes wasted Also since the last update I have yet found that it actually syncs to where I left off It is always many pages off when I finally get the book loaded AND with the last update the screen keeps timing out or something but the screen darkens before I can finish reading a page My library makes me use this or I would have uninstalled it long ago Beware How does this app have a 4 star rating     Larry S

I don t care for this app for several reasons but I must use it because that s what my local library has switched to I have a LG G7 ThinQ phone It often does not return you to the page you left off The page turning maneuver is not very responsive You don t have a choice of page color I prefer black with white writing easier on my eyes There is no easy way to guage your progress or move quickly through the book by using a sliding bar found at the bottom of the page on other apps         Jessica Rosenbloom

My second least favorite of all the library sponsored apps Doesn t work well on Chromebooks at all Reading online there s no way to see the last lines of text on a page because of the big READING ONLINE banner at the bottom Here s my solution At the library site check it out from Axis360 as an ePub download the ACSM file locally and open it with Overdrive which works quite well on Chromebooks Still checked out through Axis360 but actually readable         Elissa Miller

I am only partway through my first audiobook but so far I like Axis 360 For some reason it doesn t want to work with my wireless headphones like the Libby app I can t pause it from my headset Also at times when I pause and start again it goes back to the beginning of the chapter I am very pleased with the selection and the wait time for holds though             mary ryan

Reading books with Axis 360 has been frustrating for me For one when I switch out of the app and then back into it the page has to reload This may take 1 2 seconds though it often fails entirely requiring me to quit and reload the app Similarly annoying was how my place was lost when I reconnected to the network after reading in airplane mode for several hours If my library offered me the choice I d pick the Kindle over this every time     Marsh Gardiner

This is THE MOST MADDENING app to use while listening to audio books It never remembers where you left off instead it backs up 2 chapters It does not work with the pause button on my earbuds And i cannot understand why it takes a full minute or more to load my bookshelf if I have downloaded the books to my phone I use 3 other apps to listen to books This app is my last resort always And everytime I use it I am reminded why     Steph Sechrist

The app WAS wonderful but has been unusable recently I am unable to turn pages especially at the end of a chapter It s sure luck if at the next launch it s at the previous location The most anoying is I ve had to return library books unread due to inefficiencies with Axis 360 Needs an update NOW     Rhonda Atkinson

What have you done The axis 360 iPad reading experience used to be pleasurable before your botched facelift The amount of text on the page is overwhelming the large font size is not actually large and there is no way to find the tools This is truly awful     Kelli W

I downloaded the app because it s necessary for checking out ebooks at my local library but when I try to access the book I checked out it says I ve reached the maximum number of devices even though this is the only device I ve tried with I guess 0 is the maximum Very frustrating and my time with the book is ticking away It is not in their FAQs and there is no way to reach a support team     Kristin Donaldson

From other user reviews it appears I m having the same update related issues It s now super buggy taking forever to reload books and often generating unexpected errors after which the app basically freezes I ve had the same page turn issues others report especially at the end of chapters I only use it for library books but the return feature has been buggy too sometimes a book got deleted from my device but still showed as checked out and I couldn t return it for anything     Christi Foist

From the audiobook I ve been listening to I can say the audio is good quality and setting bookmarks is quick and easy with the press of a button However loading any book description page always takes about 10 20 seconds and sometimes it just seems to freeze The loading times are a real annoyance and show that the app isn t streamlined             Brendan R

I only use this because it s the only one my library uses for ebooks It has gotten exceptionally worse since the update Slow to load difficult to turn pages nearly impossible to bring up the menu to change text settings The search feature for finding books hardly works at all bringing up books completely unrelated to the title or author I searched for I thought it was bad before the update but somehow they ve made it worse     Sae Tounzen

Your update was a downgrade The entire reading experience is laggy the page turn buttons are so fussy i have to tap multiple times instead of the simple swipe that worked just fine before serif fonts are a goddamned misery on a digital device the text is crammed together as though screen real estate were going out of style it forgets my place and backs me up about a chapter nearly every time i close the app and return later SERIOUSLY I m going back to overdrive     Meredith Tobin

The app was always a bit laggy and quirky but usable Since the new update it s awful The app freezes shuts the screen turns off before I get through a page then reopens in a totally different spot Page turning is tedious and finicky I was excited to see the dictionary feature too bad it didn t work to define the word then closed the app and again landed me on a different page I have to use this app to borrow ebooks from my library or I wouldn t bother with it     Angelina

getting better with the updates you can now keep track of page numbers and how many pages there are but sometimes when you take a break and come back to the app it s off by a page or two or three and it takes a few seconds to load everytime you leave the app to answer a call or whatever also I wish there were more books available like for popular authors with lots of books there are usually not a lot available on here as a straight e book                 April Huff

Audiobook player is terrible Audio frequently jumps back 10 minutes after pausing unpausing Audio controls are disappointing Bluetooth controls are bound to last next chapter rather than 30s increments which aren t even on the lock screen controls you have to unlock your phone open the app wait 90s for it to load and then rewind 30s Loading is super spotty It took 5 retries and 20 minutes to load my checkout list to return my audio books so I could uninstall this godawful app     Aaron Dickman

I download a book Usually after I ve listened to at least half of the book many times it has told me the files are corrupted I then have to uninstall the book Then when I go to check the book out again to finish listening to it the book will not show up in the search             Chris Anderson

Like others I have found that yesterday and today I can t even get my books to open other than that when it was working the latest update made the reading experience worse page turns are more difficult the settings are harder to get to and a few other issues     Marla Hart

Great to have online access to my library s collection My biggest complaint and that keeps this app from being 5 stars is that the app doesn t utilize my device s TTS reader and insists that one be installed even after installing one as the app suggests it still doesn t work A cleaner and more flexible interface for searching through book categories would be nice as well                 Nemurenainda
