As an analog photographer you are likely to work with old, mechanical cameras. Those cameras often lack in accuracy with their shutter-speeds, resulting in over- or underexposed photos. "Shutter-Speed" allows you to measure the shutter-speeds ...

It did take a while to figure out how the app works After you get the wave pattern you pinch open zoom the display to make it wider between the peaks Then you slide the Circle u0026 Vertical line to the start and end segments That then reads the shutter timing I have used this on dozens of cameras before listing on eBay I did buy the adapter for light from Germany Count me as a happy user                 Bruce Kebbekus
Frustrating is the word for the time I had to invest to figure out how this thing worked no help files or any explanation of any kind to help Really need 1 1000 option too For the benefit of others the key is to move the blue band over the desired peak points you can zoom or expand the graph for the higher speeds that are closer Would be great to be able to overlay multiple tests for comparing adjustments we make to the timings for correction             Scott Little
Great once you learn to use it Best used with the 3 5mm headphone jack adapter otherwise it uses your microphone to measure the shutter sound the adapter uses light to measure shutter speed Also if measuring an slr camera the mirror can interfere with the measurement I hold the mirror up with one finger whilst firing the shutter with the other hand Just used it again to test a newly acquired 35mm slr and the speeds measured where bang on the money                 Iain Temple
Works great on my old leaf shutters Only negative is that it s pretty tough to use on faster settings than 1 200 because the waveform just becomes an indistinct blob without discernible peaks Nice that it keeps a database of correction factors you can refer to later                     Bill Fraser
Tried this with my Rolleiflex TLR using sound measurement method I could find no consistent way of identifying the peaks that indicate the opening and closing of the shutter at speeds from 1 500 to 1 30 the only ones I generally use And most measurements were wildly off I ve used this camera for years and I know the speeds are fairly accurate Maybe I could get more accurate measurements by buying the Photoplug but I m not going to spend 29 to find out A waste of 99 cents     A Google user
This app is entirely sound based you only need the mic on your phone to see if a given shutter speed is accurate The UI is seriously unintuitive clearly made by an engineer I had to google the author s website to figure out how to even use it and the documentation there had old screen shots BUT When I did get it figured out it was very easy to use Make sure to record in a quiet space as you are the one that has to look at the resulting soundwave graph and figure out which bits are the sound wave peaks from your shutter opening and closing This app is worth a dollar to be sure but totally ripe for someone to make a much easier to use and more intuitive clone of it                 James B
A great little app that does what it says nothing more nothing less Some instructions on showing how to place the guidelines to measure your exposure would be helpful as well as how to expand the graph on high speeds and make it easier to see I had to figure it out by myself                     Works like it should quickerthanyou
Very good app though only really useable with an optical sensor plugged in Developer is plainly talented but included no docs or help file It s important to know which parts of the wave form to select so you ll need to Google for that Read up on the Audacity methods online The corrections column in your results are bizarre and unintuitive until you realise it s 1 3 stops then it makes sense So 4 would mean four 1 3 stops or one and a third stops etc Very useful app                 Good but poor A Google user
Good app but very limited This will only work for non SLR cameras with leaf shutters and even then it s really only useable for checking slow speeds like 1 8 and slower If the app could use light instead of sound then it would work perfectly for all analog cameras at all speeds Shouldn t be hard for a smartphone to measure the duration of a burst of light through a camera lens             Spencer Kelly
I will update my rating once I ve had a chance to use the app Right now I just wanted to say thank you for bringing this to Android I purchased one of the plugs several months ago thinking there was an android app I look forward to finally being able to use it                 Thank you for bringing this to Android Matthew Krull
A very useful tool with the photoplug optical sensor Higher speeds become almost impossible to interpret so the vertical height of waveforms should be restricted so the user can gauge the required front and rear waves when the screen image is highly magnified                 Very useful could be made more readable David Taylor
I tested a few of my large format lenses with this app It works very well on both my Nexus 7 second version on Android 5 0 1 and Moto X first version on Android 4 4 4 I was surprised to learn that my oldest lens is nearly spot on at all but the very highest speeds I expected it to be way off the mark This app is extremely useful A PhotoPlug may be in my future This app is well worth the low price                     Works very well David Karp
Had I given it any real thought I would not even spend the dollar An slr makes all kinds of internal noise mostly the mirror You can t separate shutter from mirror sound         stephen crowningshield
Doesn t work at all Waste of time and money No instructions bloody hopeless     Peter Lee
Lack of documentation makes this app frustrating to work with Will look elsewhere         Chris Hens
Missed an accurate description how to get a trustworthy result             Can be usefull for quick analysis A Google user
How to capture pic it can t show me     Shahbaz Khan Pathan
Do not buy no instructions     Mark Becker
Works well for me                     A Google user
Very poorly laid out and just simply doesn t seem to work     Jackie Wilde
Doesn t seem to work very well on my Zeiss ikoflex shutter speed to choose is 125 250 500         Doesn t seem to work right A Google user
