Since the update night mode has bright white background the complete opposite of what it should be As if that wasn t bad enough every two minutes it throws me back to the home screen before I ve finished reading an article New Scientist should have a cutting edge app incorporating the latest research on human machine interfaces Here s a hint if it makes me write a 1 star review it isn t good enough     Richie Brian

This is the best of the many popularized science magazines It comes from the UK but the contributions come from throughout the world The level of background might be classed as advanced beginner without need for a math background Anyone from high school on up will be able to understand and enjoy their presentations I m a major fan You need to subscribe to the digital version It s not expensive If I were to offer a suggestion it is PLEASE PROVIDE A SEARCH FUNCTION Thanks                     John Pierce

Bloody useless just like the entire new scientist digital presence I m a subscriber but cant use the app on my phone it just refuses to recognise my credentials can t use the website accepts credentials allows me to upgrade or renew but never actually read an article in full I ve written many times to their support but they ve never bothered to answer Bunch of crooks avoid them like the plague     Dave Farmer

It DOES work for subscribers but you have to download it from your subscription page NOT from PlayStore The content is excellent but it is based on downloading complete digital versions of each issue which is a heavy load for a phone like mine So I use it as an archive using the website and daily emails for most current stuff                 Ian Slater

Subscribed to both print and app and yet only managed to get one downloaded issue The app just booted me out and tells me there is a problem with your credentials Not cool I can access the website with the exact same details and even had been logged in and got last months issue I don t understand Please fix I am a new subscriber and paid upfront for the year but it is useless if I can t download any issues         James Hopkins

I use this app all the time the publication speaks for itself I have been a subscriber for nearly 10 years so there s my recommendation on that The app functions well except from one episode between updates where it was deleting everything but that is fixed now Suggested additions Cloud storage for bookmarks and quotes either NS server side or Google drive When I upgrade devices I lose all my old clips Spritz type red line reader or 2 birds with one stone and text to speech integration which the Spritz app could then read                 James Barnes

l am already a paying subscriber to both the print and web editions of this magazine and yet for some reason I am being asked to pay more for access to the same information through this app Furthermore I understand that even then I would not have access to back issues through the app What a blizzard business model     A Google user

tried to log back into app and will not let me back in apparently a known issue which could take 2 weeks to fix I had tried reinstalling the app but now cannot access any of my downloaded issues either Website on mobile doesn t allow me to log in Resolution is to log on via PC well that s no good on the move update this is now resolved They sent me a link to re verify my account and now I can log into the website and the app again Perhaps this is a fix for everyone who has lost access                 Peter Church

There is an issue with login credentials if you login using Google like me or Facebook on the website To fix this click forgot password at website login screen follow email link to reset password Once logged in to the website site I also changed email address to a non Gmail one but not sure if it makes a difference I can now use the app                 Chris King

awful was bought a subscription to NS as a birthday present but it has been nothing but a headache The app constantly logs me out then doesnt acknowledge i have an active subscription meaning i have to spend over an hour conversing with the NS staff to get the app to work again this has happened 4 times now it has also lost all my downloaded articles once The app is also incredibly slow to load in short avoid the app and avoid NS digital subscriptions     Craig G

Bought a subscription but was never able to access it from a 2018 Android phone Technical support was hard to access then just asked techno babble questions that I had no idea where to even look for the answers It s 2018 It should just work Money wasted     A Google user

I have to join the ranks of the barely one star reviews I pay for the full subscription but it continually blocks me from the app It asks me to upgrade and manage my subscription but this makes NO difference I m fed up with not getting what I ve paid for     Russell J Cole

In some ways this app is gorgeous and does justice to the print issues but behind the pretty images lies a clunky awful app I have had numerous login issues despite multiple tech conversations It s really sad that a magazine app about cutting edge science is less usable than most shopping apps             Rebecca Allen

No use whatsoever unless you are a subscriber You can t even read the bits that are free on the website You can apparently buy issues via Google pay but the developer does not seem to be aware of that     A Google user
